Magic Cookie Bars

The magic isn’t anything illegal either. I think it is just because they are so good they should be illegal.

Magic Cookie Bars

prep-time: 30 minutes
cook time: 25 minutes
yields: 40 cookies

So after a fun filled afternoon of dealing with a teenager (my niece) something chocolatey seems necessary.

You’ll Need
1/2 c. margarine, melted
1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
1 c. (6oz) chocolate chips – we’ve been known to just add all 12 oz.
1 1/2 c. flaked coconut (approx)
1 15oz. can sweetened, condensed milk

Mix It Up
1. Melt margarine in 13x9x2 pan. Mix crumbs with margarine and pat down.
2. Layer crumbs with nuts, chocolate chips and coconut, in that order.
3. Pour milk over evenly.
4. Bake at 350 deg. for 25 minutes, or till lightly browned.
5. Cool and cut into squares.

I do believe this can cure a case of the snotty teenager. *wink*

And I’ll have you know for the whole of my life these have been “Aunt Martha’s Magic Cookie Bars” and I’ve just discovered she got them from the back of a can of the condensed milk. I feel cheated some how. See link HERE. Still they are fantastic and worth a try.
